Menudo was excellent. Big portion. Garnish was fresh. Overall good atmosphere. Extra stars for the cheese in addition to salsa with chips before order. Pricing was very reasonable
I had been searching for a good chicken tortilla soup in the Weslaco-to-Pharr area without much luck—until I visited El Dorado in Alamo. While it’s not labeled as chicken tortilla soup on the menu, I simply added some tortilla chips and it hit the spot! The soup is flavorful, with just the right amount of chicken, cheese, rice, and vegetables. It’s served with guacamole instead of avocado slices, but that worked fine for me—next time, I’ll just ask for avocado instead. Highly recommend!
We always drove by and finally decided to stop for the first time. The food and service were amazing and we will be stopping by again. My wife had the surf and turf, I had the quesadilla and our son had the Carne guisada. He said it the best he has ever had.
Loved the food at this restaurant! Ordered Queso Fundido that was so good! Also had Tourido Fajitas and Carne Guisado and both dishes were excellent. The fajita meat was so tender and flavorful and so plentiful that we had leftover that was even better the next day! Same with the Carne guisado. Servers were good and attentive. The owner stopped by each table and greeted customers as well. Would definitely recommend!
We loved the botana platter for two. It was just enough for two big guys and probably enough for 4 average size people. It comes with a nice serving of rice, beans and guacamole , but very few chips and cheese. We also got two onion rings and two fried zucchini. We had beer with our lunch and it was very cold, so that was a plus. The wait staff was attentive and the place was nice and cool. Very comfortable.
- The decor is synonymous with what you would find in a rustic, norteño setting. Situated in the corner of a small plaza, this Mexican restaurant is large, with plenty of seating. Very busy, but the service was reasonably quick. We were seated almost immediately, had our coffee in no time. We came for brunch. My flour tortilla had an authentic homemade taste, which I enjoyed. We ordered a plate that had a variety, to sample the staple foods. The barbacoa had the perfect ratio of flavor and texture, not greasy at all! The menudo was not as good as the one mom makes, but it was good, for a typical Mexican restaurant grade. Their coffee was good. We kept accepting the server’s refills. Their menu has plenty of selections to choose from for any time of the day. We will definitely be coming back to try the lunch menu.
